Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) is stepping up its commitment to sustainability with 14 university-wide dialogues under the theme “Sustainability at EUR: From words to action”. Following the recognition of the climate and ecological emergency, the university wants to involve the entire community in shaping its sustainability ambitions. The dialogues, organized by employees and students, create a platform in each faculty for discussions on sustainability in research, teaching, management and operations.

A project group is investigating links with the fossil fuel industry, with results expected in the third quarter of the year. The university plans to publish findings on sustainability in education, launch the new version of the SDG Mapper, and improve sustainability measures on campus. The ultimate goal is to inspire behavioral change and achieve sustainability ambitions, such as sustainable transportation and plant-based food on campus. The EUR Sustainability Monitor provides ongoing information on carbon footprint, in line with the university’s broader commitment to becoming an ecopositive educational institution.
